Picaluna believes in 100% price transparency, so we do things a little differently to some funeral homes in your area.  We see our role as being to assist and empower families to create meaningful and authentic farewells that are aligned with their values. We are completely transparent with our funeral costs in your area, sourcing everything at wholesale price and applying a 35% Service fee to the wholesale cost of the funeral. Furthermore, we donate 5% of our profit to a charity of your choice.

A Direct Cremation is a no service, no attendance cremation of the deceased, with the ashes delivered to the family following the cremation taking place. The family often use the ashes at a later date in a memorial ceremony for the deceased.

Transfer   $290.00

Transfer is the transferring of the deceased from the place of death to the crematorium. This price is for a weekday transfer; weekend rates apply for transfers on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Funeral Arranging   $528.00

Funeral arranging entails organising the transfer, meeting with the family to complete documentation, coordinating with external suppliers, registering the death with The Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages, delivering the ashes back to the family.

Coffin   $150.00

Basic cardboard or MDF cremation coffin is a legal requirement in NSW.

Cremation Certificates   $330.00

There are two cremation certificates – the Cremation Risk Advice, and, the Medical Referee’s Cremation Permit.

Death Certificate   $71.50

As issued by The Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages.

Cremation Fee   $545.00

Paid to the crematorium for the cremation.

A Cremation with a service, can either have the coffin present with the cremation taking place following the funeral service, or, the cremation can take place first, followed by a memorial service at a later date. With both options, the ashes are delivered to the family following the cremation taking place.

Transfer  $350.00

Transfer is the transferring of the deceased from the place of death to the mortuary. This price is for a weekday transfer; weekend rates apply for transfers on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Mortuary Care   $460.00

Mortuary care includes nightly storage at $60 per night, preparation of the deceased starting from $200, and a coffin name plate at $20. The deceased’s stay at the mortuary can vary from one night, through to many weeks, depending upon the individual circumstance.

Funeral arranging entails organising the transfer, meeting with the family to complete documentation, coordinating with external suppliers, registering the death with The Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages, conducting the funeral on the day, delivering the ashes back to the family.

Celebrant   $1062.00

A professional celebrant is an integral part of the funeral process. They will meet the family, learn the story of the deceased, their life and loves; then craft a personalised funeral ceremony, delivered on the day. This typically takes 10-12 hours’ work. This helps the family and the community to honour and celebrate their person, mourn their death so they can heal and rejuvenate.

Coffin   $495.00

Price for a Richmond standard MDF coffin; prices vary depending on choice of make and model, starting from $160 for a Daisy Box, environmentally friendly cardboard coffin.

Hearse  $660.00

Your choice of a range of hearses from vintage Mercedes to modern models.

Flowers  – Coffin Splash starting from $440

Can include a coffin splash, floral arrangements, single stem flowers, floral tributes such as wreaths etc.

 

 

Order of Service booklets – Typically $275 – $440

These can be black and white or colour, multiple pages.

 

Photo & Video Slideshow – From $330 to $660

Photo tribute slideshows and music are important parts of a funeral ceremony. Our professional Designers will curate all the photos, videos and music and build a beautiful presentation for playing on the day.

 

Live Webcasting –  From $1,210 to $1,980

Professional live streaming creates a beautiful experience for family and friends to easily be part of such an important moment from afar. High quality cameras and microphones discreetly capture all the important details using a variety of creative shots and angles. A recording of the funeral is available to watch later plus it can be downloaded and kept as a treasured tribute.

 

Newspaper Notices – From $175

Can be either a Funeral or Death notice, both digital and print. Can be submitted to newspapers of the family’s choice.

 

Religious Ceremony Clergy – Typically $330

In the instance of a religious ceremony, Clergy would replace the Celebrant.

Catering – Prices vary on a per-head basis.

Some venues have in-house caterers.

For venues that don’t, Picaluna has a range of professional catering companies to choose from.

 

Burial Plot – From $5,500 to $35,000

Generally, the family deals directly with the cemetery when purchasing the burial plot.

 

Urns – From $66 to $1,100

Picaluna has a range of urn suppliers to choose from.

 

Viewing – From $660

This entails one night’s stay at the mortuary, basic preparation of the body, Viewing Room hire, and an additional transfer fee from the mortuary to the crematorium.

 

Cooling Bed Hire – $275 set up, then $165 per night

A refrigerated cooling plate to lay underneath the deceased, keeping them cool for a home vigil.

 

End of Life Doula – Hourly rate depending upon circumstances

A non-medical companion, who provides emotional, social and spiritual support to the dying, and to those around them. They help open up the conversation about death and loss and on a more practical level, they will provide company if/when the family needs to take breaks, or help set up a community support system.

Burial Fee  – From  $1,500.00
