Based in Murwillumbah on NSW’s Far North Coast, Tanya’s background is in nursing, starting her career in palliative care where even as a 19-year-old trainee nurse she felt drawn to the end-of-life space.
After the births of her 4 children, she moved into midwifery where she spent most of her career, predominantly working as a private midwife supporting families choosing homebirth or hospital birth, whatever choice best suited them. This choice is also something Tanya can offer families when a loved one dies.
Tanya feels privileged to be witness to the full circle of life and understands how important continuity of care, transparency and trust is at such a pivotal time. She says “It feels like a very natural transition to walk alongside families to create a truly beautiful, unique funeral for their person, it’s like coming home.”
Tanya understands that grief is not linear and that families need time and space to create a beautiful funeral; thus helping to ease the pain that comes with losing someone they love.
She is happy to have the opportunity to offer families of the far North Coast of NSW and Gold Coast the Picaluna way.
