At the most vulnerable time of life when I lost my best friend and husband, Sarah took my hand and guided me gently and lovingly through the shock and wilderness of grief, helping me get the funeral service and wake organised to perfection. She did all the heavy lifting of the arrangements, from church and flowers, creamatorium and venue for the wake and held such loving space at the wake / celebration of life afterwards, encouraging those who had stories to share to do so, framing beatiuful photos of Pete for the service and afterwards. Not only was there a perfect orchestration of logistics, including somehow arranging for a swift release of the death certificate and ashes, as family were travelling back to the UK, but with so much love held my through the toughest of times. I am forever grateful. I cannot recommend this beautiful soul hightly enough.

I don't normally share reviews but I have to on this occasion. During a stressful time, Wendy and Candice were so helpful and took the time to understand what we wanted to do and made it happen. The fact that Picaluna is so flexible meant that I could make sure my mum was taken care of until the plans were finalised and they accommodated last minute details with ease.

My sister, a young vibrant woman with strong spiritual beliefs, passed away suddenly and shockingly. Knowing that she would not want a stuffy, traditional funeral, I started searching and came across Picaluna. She made sure everything went to plan and ran to schedule, as we were very distracted and emotional on the day. Without Jordan and Picaluna, I am certain this would have been a very different experience. Not to mention, the cost was much less than traditional businesses, and it included a donation to a charity that we chose. If you are looking for a heartfelt, personalized, creative and unconventional service for your loved one, I highly recommend Jordan and Picaluna! I lost my father recently and it was up to me and my sister to make funeral arrangements. After our first meeting with Alex from Picaluna I knew we had found someone special to guide us through the overwhelming process of my husbands funeral. My beautiful mom passed away unexpectedly in hospital, the first time in my life to experience such immense loss and the first time to organise a funeral. We needed to get my brother back to the UK to be with his young family so not only did we have the challenge of working out the uncharted territory of funeral logistics, but we needed to have a cremation and the memorial within 5 days! Like all good community, I reached out to my street chat and I was given 4 funeral directors as recommendations. Pica Luna was one of these. My brother and I did our die diligence and called 3 of the recommendations and Pica Luna shone out by far. Kylie the operations manager was efficient, so caring and understood the time pressure we were under - she immediately got underway to get a funeral director to our home within a few hours. Our amazing funeral director was Beth Armstrong. From the moment we met her, we knew she was a very special kind of human - she made us feel at ease, spent two hours with us going through the multitude of forms we had to complete to arrange transfers from hospitals to crematoriums back to us. My brain was in a fog but Beth made it all seem bearable and easy enough to do. She listens to us, she cared, she went above and beyond helping us work through celebrant options, aah scattering locations - never trying to make a quick buck, always trying to find the best option that would be affordable and meet our timelines. The Pica Luna operating model is unique and allows for true flexibility and affordability - they are not linked to one or two crematoriums so they worked hard to find the one that could meet our timelines. Everything is costed an wholesale price and then they add there markup of which 5% goes to our nominated charity from their charity partners - every cost is made transparent. And finally, our beautiful Beth hand delivered the ashes to us and her love brought us so much peace. So grateful we used Pica Luna and we would recommend them to all! Thank you Beth and Kylie.

I had no idea where to start with organising my brother-in-law’s funeral and thankfully noticed Picaluna’s google reviews. At a time where you feel everyone is trying to take advantage of your sorrow, Picaluna were the opposite. Annie was compassionate and helpful, gently reminding us when things needed to be done. They coordinated all the different aspects of the cemetery and helped make the service run smoothly. From the moment we needed help to the very end we felt supported and well guided. There were no hidden costs and all the hard things were taken care of so we could take care of each other.

This was the first funeral I had to arrange so I can’t compare to others however I can say that Beth and Picaluna were absolutely amazing from start to end with the arrangements for my mother’s funeral. In such a tough time and with the need to expedite the funeral they catered for every need and made it so much easier by coming to us and working through everything step by step. They even hand delivered the ashes to our house which was a nice touch. The hand holding, empathy and professionalism really was outstanding. My first point of contact with Picaluna was through Greg. He walked me through the initial process, and was very compassionate and genuine. I believe I also spoke to an Anne a few days later, who was also very lovely.Oliver Thomson was subsequently assigned as our Funeral Director. A day and time for an in-home appointment was quickly booked, which in general made us feel much more comfortable and at ease. Oliver came to this appointment very prepared and laid everything out for us in detail. He helped us organise a very budget-friendly, yet beautiful service. Between this appointment and the service, Oliver responded to all my texts and emails in a very timely manner, ensuring that I received all the information I requested, plus more.On the day of the service, Oliver was joined by Andrea. Both were organised, efficient, compassionate, and kind. Everything ran smoothly.Despite the difficult circumstances, Picaluna made the planning process very easy. They were very transparent, which is something I greatly appreciated, especially considering I had never had to plan a funeral before.Overall, I am very thankful to everyone I associated with at Picaluna, and especially Oliver. If I had to make a recommendation to anyone, Picaluna would be at the top of my list.

Jacqi was kind, understanding, patient and accessible. Her explanation of the processes and requirements after a person has passed away was vital. I could not recommend Picaluna Funerals more highly and, as I come from a very large family and friendship group, I have been to numerous funerals over the past 20 years to allow a genuine comparison. Jo Dalton strikes a beautiful balance between empathy, practicality and responsiveness to individual family needs, whilst remaining completely flexible in allowing the family to organise the funeral their own way. She will also take the burden away and do the organising herself if this is preferred. The Picaluna admin staff are ever helpful and kind, ensuring all the minutia (death certificates, burial/cremation processes, other documentation) are attended to efficiently and in a timely manner, all those things which are a necessary part of death. The after service support is also excellent and Jo is a mine of useful information. I had the honour of attending the Picaluna directed funeral of Dahlia Dior at Synagogue Emanuel. The concept of "beautiful funerals" was an apt description of the experience we were led through on this deeply sad occasion. The service mirrored the character and personality of our friend; filled with colour, music, poetry, heart felt stories and rituals familiar to Dahlia's faith community and heritage. It was so touching to be reminded of Dahlia's life as a singer, entertainer and adventurer as well as someone who loved life. The service held our attention with pivotal stories and music so that in death, as in life, we found joy, tenderness, wit, humour and art that blended tears and smiles from heart and soul. We were guided to part of the rituals of farewell and blessed by her daughter's profoundly moving tributes and song of adoration. Careful planning and direction held us in a beautiful process, utterly mindful of the many ways we loved our Dear Friend Dahlia.

JC at Picaluna was the celebrant for my sister’s funeral in early March 2025, helped by Wendy and Maureen. She was so kind, thoughtful and really clear at a time when our family was in deep grief. Having previously arranged two funerals that did not quite meet my expectations, with the death of my daughter, I wanted this to be something special that was a meaningful expression to celebrate her life taken all too soon. Amy’s organisational skills and attention to detail were clearly on display in managing all aspects leading up to the funeral, including a number of unusual aspects that were part of my daughter’s wishes, such as arranging specially designed artwork and a coffin wrap featuring some of her favourite things in life. They listened carefully and were able to guide us not only in arranging a simple, very private cremation but also later devising a unique and extraordinary Celebration of Life event for my Dad all the while respecting our ongoing deep grief. Annie checked in on us almost daily, gently moving us through our list of “to do’s” while also making sure we were OK. Nothing was too difficult or too unusual for Annie and her team. She intuitively knew when to stand back and when to step up, and handled the whole process with humour, kindness, calm and efficiency - exactly what we needed! The day of the Celebration went flawlessly and joyously, and the team of Picaluna women (elegantly dressed in navy blue) were there to graciously help with any request while also making themselves unobtrusive. We cannot recommend the services of Picaluna, and in particular Annie, enough. They are more than your average funeral service. They walked with us through this terrible time in our lives while also helping us achieve the send off my Dad deserved, and which his family and friends all needed. Thank you, Annie and co. I could not recommend Picaluna (and in particular Paulina Mangano) who handled the funeral of a very special friend recently. Rachel, Emily and team were amazing. If I could give more stars I would. They created calm within the chaos of organising one of the hardest things we’ve have ever had to do. From the moment I first called Picaluna, only a few hours after my mother passed, I knew I'd made the right decision. A lovely lady said my details would be passed on to a funeral director and, sure enough, Jaqi called soon after. Jaqi's warmth, compassion, expertise and professionalism were exemplary. Anne and Jordan who both needed to wrangle the wishes of 5 siblings and Mum's wishes into a send off fitting someone so dear to us all. My father passed away recently in his 90th year. As a family we engaged Jaqi Coan of Picaluna Beautiful Funerals, in the role of Funeral Director & Celebrant.We are so pleased we made this decision. Without putting too fine a point on it, this aspect was breathtaking! The crowning glory being, drone footage of the hearse elegantly gliding through the rural landscape, adjacent to the Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club where the ceremony was held.The standard of service provided by Jaqi, her colleagues at Picaluna Beautiful Funerals and every one of their suppliers, could only be described as exceptional. What can I say…… I made the right decision to ask Sarah to guide mums funeral. She made the whole journey not enjoyable but bearable, Beautiful. Sarah’s suggestion every inch of the way was so helpful From being with mum when she left her body, bathing mum after she went, bringing the cardboard casket home to decorate with the great grand kids and the layout of the service. The whole event went perfect.I have had nothing but praise from friends and relatives including those who watched it being live cast. My gorgeous Dad died suddenly in my home last month and we needed to act swiftly to find a service that honoured the gentle, soulful and Earth conscious person that he was. A five star review doesn’t do justice to the support and service that Andrea and Picaluna gave us when our Dad suddenly passed away recently. From the minute I called Andrea she was such an amazing support and I honestly can’t imagine how we would have endured the whole experience without her. She put up with our loving (but intense) attempts to capture our beautiful, complex Dad in a service that was fitting for the amazing life he lived. No request was too complicated and she replied to every question and worry, no matter the time of day or night. During the service Andrea brought such joy and warmth and helped to make Dad’s funeral something we are all so proud of. So many people remarked to me that it was the most beautiful and personal funeral they had ever been to. Though we don’t wish this sadness on anyone else, we hope that every family across Sydney has the chance to be supported by Andrea and Picaluna when the time comes to farewell someone they love.
